Oil Level Check

The oil level of these compressors should be checked whenever refrigerant has been lost due to leakage or through normal system servicing.

Mounting angle will affect reading on dipstick. This procedure is designed to be used with compressor removed from vehicle and on flat surface.
1. Remove oil filler plug and, looking through plug hole, turn front clutch plate to position piston connecting rod in center of oil filler plug hole.
2. Insert dipstick J-29642-12 through oil filler plug hole to the right of piston connecting rod until dipstick stop contacts compressor housing.
3. Remove dipstick and note number of increments covered. When properly filled, the compressor should contain between four and six increments of oil for Medallion or six and eight increments of oil for Premier.
4. Adjust oil level as necessary and install oil fill plug.
