Power and Ground Distribution: Testing and Inspection

NOTE: Refer to SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS/ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC DIAGRAMS when performing these tests.
1. Disconnect control unit harness connector.
2. Connect a suitable voltmeter between control unit connector terminal 11 and ground.
3. Voltage indicated should be approximately 12 volts.
4. If voltage indicated is as specified, circuit is satisfactory. Proceed to step 6.
5. If voltage indicated is not as specified, repair circuit as necessary.
6. Connect a suitable voltmeter between control unit connector terminal 1 and ground.
7. Turn ignition switch On.
8. Voltage indicated should be approximately 12 volts.
9. If voltage indicated is as specified, circuit is satisfactory. Proceed to step 11.
10. If voltage indicated is not as specified, repair circuit as necessary.
11. Connect a suitable ohmmeter between control unit connector terminal 7 and ground, then terminal 17 and ground.
12. Turn ignition switch Off.
13. Ohmmeter should indicate continuity.
14. If continuity is indicated, circuit is satisfactory.
15. If continuity is not indicated, repair circuit as necessary.
