SUBJECT: Sliding Side Door Adjustment 1992 Summit Wagon

1992 (B8) SUMMIT WAGON


SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some vehicles built prior to July 23, 1991, the rear sliding door may be out of adjustment, allowing contact with the rear edge of the front door. This may cause some paint to chip off the front door edge.


PARTS REQUIRED:

2 Shims MB889947
1 Shim MB574974


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves installation of shims on sliding door stops and/or striker on the "B" post (center pillar).

FIGURE 1:





1. Install one (1) shim, PN MB889947, on each of the upper and lower stops on the "B" post (center pillar) as shown in Figure 1.

2. Close the sliding door. Check if proper adjustment has been obtained.

3. With the sliding door closed, open the right front passenger door and verify the sliding door is latched completely around the strider, on the "B" post (center pillar). If the latch does not fully engage, add one (1) shim, PN MB574974, to striker as shown in Figure 2.

4. Touch up paint as required.
