Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation
Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit:
LOCATIONThe
speed sensor is located in the speedometer head.
OPERATIONThe
vehicle speed sensor uses a magnetic reed type switch. As the speedometer cable turns, the switch turns on and off (opening and closing the circuit). The ECM senses the speed at which this happens as the vehicle speed.
