Wiper Motor: Service and Repair

FRONT
NOTE: Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair, to disable airbag before proceeding.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove wiper motor attaching bolts or nuts, pull motor out slightly and disconnect linkage. If it is necessary to remove crank arm, mark relationship of crank arm to motor prior to removal to ensure proper stop angle after installation.
3. Remove wiper motor.
4. Reverse procedure to install. When installing crank arm on wiper motor, ensure reference marks made during removal are aligned.

REAR

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove wiper arm from shaft, then the washers and grommets, noting position for installation.
3. Remove liftgate trim panel, then disconnect wiper motor electrical connector.
4. Remove wiper motor attaching screws, then the motor from liftgate.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Mount wiper arm so that when motor is in park position distance between tip of blade and lower window molding is 0.6-1.0 inch on Colt Vista or 1.8 - 2.2 inches on Colt Wagon and Conquest.
