Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Location Of TPS:

1. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor connector.

Checking The Resistance Of The TPS:

2. Measure the resistance between terminal # 1 and terminal # 4 of the TPS.
Refer to SPECIFICATIONS/ELECTRICAL.

Checking Sensor Output To MPI Control Unit:

3. Connect the ohmmeter to terminal # 1 and terminal # 3 of the TPS.

4. Operate the throttle valve slowly from the idle position to the full open position. Verify that the resistance changes smoothly in proportion to the throttle valve angle.

5. If there is any deviance in the results for the above tests, replace the TPS.
