Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Service and Repair


Models Before 1978

1. Disconnect hose from valve.

2. Loosen coupling, and disconnect feed pipe from valve. Disconnect retaining hardware from EGR pipe bracket at camshaft cover.

3. Remove EGR valve retaining bolts, and lift valve from engine.

4. Reinstall in reverse order of removal, using a new gasket.


Models 1978 And Later

NOTE: Procedure given for Brava and Spider models. Strada and X1/9 similar.

1. Disconnect hose from valve.

2. Loosen coupling and disconnect feed pipe from valve.

3. Remove EGR valve retaining bolts, then lift valve from engine.

4. Reinstall in reverse order of removal, using a new gasket.
