IMCO Inlet Air Temperature Regulation

Procedure

Inspect the vacuum motor and flap for free movement and eliminate any binding or interference with duct. Check for defective vacuum lines and vacuum leakage.

Vacuum motor should stay in the open (outside air) position with vacuum absent. Motor should move to closed position with vacuum applied. This test should be performed with air cleaner heat sensor bypassed.

Once the vacuum motor and lines have been checked, observe system function with engine running and heat sensor connected. General specifications require that duct flap be in closed position with intake air in air cleaner at 75° or less. Duct flap should be open when air cleaner intake air is 100° F or higher, or when engine is accelerated. Improper function indicates defective heat sensor.
