Oil Charge

FS-6 & 6P148 AXIAL 6 CYLINDER COMPRESSORS
A new service replacement compressor contains 10 fluid ounces of refrigerant oil. Before installing replacement compressor, drain 4 fluid ounces of oil from compressor in order to maintain total system oil charge within specified limits.
When other air conditioning system components are replaced, measured amounts of 500 viscosity oil should be added to the component to ensure that total oil charge is correct. Clean refrigerant oil should be added as follows:
Evaporator core 3 fluid ounces
Condenser 1 fluid ounce
Accumulator 1 fluid ounce

Replacement of other components such as valves or hoses does not require the addition of any refrigerant oil.

HR-980 RADIAL 4 CYLINDER COMPRESSOR
A new service replacement compressor contains 8 fluid ounces of refrigerant oil. Before installing replacement compressor, drain 4 fluid ounces of oil from compressor in order to maintain total system oil charge within specified limits.
When other air conditioning system components are replaced, measured amounts of 500 viscosity oil should be added to the component to ensure total oil charge is correct. Clean refrigerant oil should be added as follows:
Accumulator: Drain oil from accumulator through pressure switch fitting and measure. Add equal amount plus 1 ounce clean refrigerant oil to new accumulator.
Evaporator core 3 fluid ounces
Condenser 1 fluid ounce
Replacement of other components such as valves or hoses does not require the addition of any refrigerant oil.

Discharging System Using Manifold Gauge Set. Nippondenso C-171 Compressor:

NIPPONDENSO 6E171
1. Discharge system, Fig. 4, and remove suction and discharge lines from compressor.
2. Remove compressor assembly from vehicle, then drain compressor oil from suction and discharge ports.
3. Add A/C system refrigerant oil capacity to compressor through suction port, less capacity of components not replaced as follows: Receiver-Drier 1 oz.
Condenser 1 oz.
Evaporator 2 oz.
4. Install compressor assembly and, using new gaskets, attach suction and discharge lines.
5. Evacuate and charge system.

FX-15 AXIAL 10 CYLINDER COMPRESSOR
A new service replacement compressor contains 7 fluid ounces of refrigerant oil. Before installing replacement compressor, drain oil from old compressor. If three to five ounces of oil were drained from old compressor, then drain new compressor and install the same amount of oil drained from old compressor. If more than five ounces were drained from old compressor, install five ounces of new refrigerant oil in new compressor. If less than three ounces was removed from old compressor, install three ounces in new compressor.
When other air conditioning system components are replaced, measured amounts of refrigerant oil should be added to the component to ensure total oil charge is correct. Clean refrigerant oil should be added as follows:
Accumulator: drain oil from accumulator. Add equal amount plus 1 ounce clean refrigerant oil to new accumulator.
Evaporator core 3 ounces
Condenser 1 ounce
Replacement of other components such as valves or hoses does not require the addition of any refrigerant oil.
