System Outputs

1. Feedback Control Solenoid-The feedback control solenoid receives a signal from the ECA to adjust the air/fuel mixture of the carburetor. The solenoid is mounted on the outside of the carburetor assembly.
2. Thermactor Air Bypass (TAB) Solenoid-The TAB solenoid bypasses air through the air control valve to the atmosphere on command by the ECA. The TAB solenoid is mounted on the valve cover.
3. Thermactor Air Diverter (TAD) Solenoid-The TAD solenoid diverts air through the air control valve to the exhaust manifold assembly or catalytic converter on command by the ECA. The TAD is mounted on the valve cover.
4. Shift Lamp-The shift lamp is used on some models equipped with manual transmission and provides a visual indication to the driver when to shift to the next highest gear to obtain optimum fuel economy. The shift lamp is located on the instrument panel assembly.
5. DC Motor Idle Speed Control (ISC)-The DC motor, located on the carburetor, is used to control both cold and warm idle speed. It is also used as an anti-diesel, electronic dashpot and to pre-position the throttle for the next engine start.
6. EGR Shut-OFF Solenoid-Mounted on the engine valve cover, the EGR shut-off solenoid is used to control the EGR system.
7. Canister Purge (CANP) Solenoid-The CANP solenoid controls carbon canister purging on command by the ECA. The CANP is located in the purge line between PCV valve and carbon canister.
8. Thick Film Integrated IV (TFI-IV) Ignition Module-Mounted on the distributor, the TFI-IV module supplies the spark signal to the distributor through the coil, and calculates spark duration. The module receives its control signal from the ECA spark output.
9. Throttle Kicker Solenoid (TKS)-Mounted on the engine's left valve cover, the solenoid is used to control idle speed (ON or OFF RPM) upon idle speed (ON or OFF RPM) upon commands from the ECA.
10. EGR Control (EGRC) Solenoid-Mounting on the engine's left valve cover, the solenoid controls EGR vacuum to control EGR flow according to commands from the ECA.
11. EGR Vent (EGRV) Solenoid-Mounted on the engine's left valve cover, the EGRV solenoid is operated by the ECA to Bleed vacuum to the EGR valve when the vent requires closing.
12. Temperature-Compensated Accelerator Pump Solenoid-The temperature-compensated accelerator pump solenoid is similar to the throttle kicker solenoid. This solenoid is ECA controlled and will energize at approximately 95 degrees F engine coolant temperature.
