Diagnostic Tools

The Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS) is a tool that diagnoses intermittent driveability and engine performance concerns by testing vehicle systems. Results of the tests are displayed in items, tables and graphs to help identify powertrain and intermittent concerns. This stand-alone system contains universal testers and meters, specialized diagnostic tools, and guided diagnostics. OASIS, Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manuals (EVTMs), Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manuals, and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are also available on SBDS. EEC Self-Test
An EEC Self-Test identifies the DTCs output during KOEO, KOER, and Continuous Memory Self-Tests.

DCL Recorder/Monitor
The DCL Recorder/Monitor monitors and records EEC system input and output parameters during in-bay tests and road tests.

Ignition System Test
The Ignition System Test determines the ignition system on the vehicle and then helps identify intermittent and hard-fault concerns. Results of the test indicate any concerns and the effect on system operation.

Ignition Recorder/Monitor
The Ignition Recorder/Monitor records the operation of the ignition system during a road test and displays the results as Spark Duration, Power Balance, and Ignition System function.

Customer Flight Recorder and Portable Vehicle Analyzer
The Customer Flight Recorder (CFR) and the Portable Vehicle Analyzer (PVA) record the EEC system operation during a road test.

Transmission DCL Recorder/Monitor
The Transmission DCL Recorder/Monitor records the operation of the transmission during a road test. This tool is like DCL Recorder/Monitor, except that it preselects transmission-related parameters.

Cranking Data Display
The Cranking Data Display records engine cranking information, including starter current draw, fuel pressure, and battery voltage. This test assists in the identification of intermittent hard-start and no-start conditions.

Idle Data Display
The Idle Data Display displays idle-related engine parameters, including fuel pressure to help identify idle quality concerns.
