Disassembly and Assembly

DISASSEMBLY





1. Install the Valve Spring Spacer between the valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.





2. Use (A) Valve Spring Compressor to compress the (B) valve springs and remove the (C) camshaft roller followers.





3. Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.





4. Use Valve Spring Compressor to compress the valve springs.





5. Remove the (A) valve spring retainer keys, (B) valve spring retainers, and the (C) valve spring.





6. Remove the (A) valve from the (B) valve guide located in the (C) cylinder head.





7. Remove the valve stem seals.





8. Remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts.





9. Remove the camshaft bearing caps.





10. Remove the camshaft from the cylinder head.

ASSEMBLY





1. Lubricate the camshaft journals.
^ Use engine oil meeting Ford specifications WSE-M2C908-A1.





2. Install the camshaft onto the cylinder head.





3. Install the camshaft bearing caps.
1. Lubricate and position the camshaft bearing caps.
^ Use engine oil meeting Ford specification WSE-M2C908-A1.
2. Loosely install the bolts.





4. Tighten the camshaft bearing cap bolts in the sequence shown.





5. Use (A) Valve Stem Seal Replacer and install the (B) valve seals.

NOTE: Valve stem seal must be bottomed on valve seat. Ensure that garter spring is present in the valve stem seal.





6. Install the (A) valve in the (B) valve guide located in the (C) cylinder head.





7. Install the (A) valve spring and the (B) valve spring retainer.





8. Install the Valve Spring Spacer between the valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.





9. Use (A) Valve Spring Compressor to compress the (B) valve spring and install the (C) valve spring retainer keys.





10. Install the hydraulic lash adjusters.





11. Use (A) Valve Spring Compressor to (B) compress the valve spring and install the (C) camshaft roller followers.





12. Remove Valve Spring Spacer.
