Removal and Installation


REMOVAL

1. Perform Fuel Pressure Release.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank.





5. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe vent hose from fuel tank filler pipe.





6. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector.





7. Position a suitable jack under the fuel tank.





8. If equipped, remove fuel tank skid plate.
1 Remove the five fuel tank skid plate bolts.
2 Lower the fuel tank skid plate.





9. Remove the front fuel tank support strap.
1 Remove the two bolts.
2 Remove the front fuel tank support strap.





10. Remove the rear fuel tank support strap.
1 Remove the three bolts.
2 Remove the rear fuel tank support strap.





11. Partially lower the fuel tank and disconnect the two EVAP emissions hoses.





12. Disconnect the two safety clips from the fuel lines.





13. Use Fuel Line Removal Tool to disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump.





14. Lower the fuel tank.

INSTALLATION













To install, reverse the removal procedure.
