Removal

REMOVAL

1. Remove the muffler and tail pipe assembly.





2. Disconnect the two Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2Ss) and the two Catalyst Monitor Sensors (CMSs).





3. Remove the two LH and two RH TWC to exhaust manifold nuts.





4. Remove the transfer case skid plate.
1 Remove the four transfer case skid plate bolts (two each side).
2 Remove the transfer case skid plate.





5. Remove the two heat shield to transmission support crossmember bolts.
6. Use Hi-Lift Jack to support the transmission.





7. Remove the transmission support crossmember to transmission support insulator nuts.





8. Remove the transmission support crossmember.
1 Remove the three LH bolts and three RH bolts.
2 Remove the transmission support crossmember.









9. Remove the nuts, and then remove the two TWCs.





10. If only one TWC is being replaced, remove the LH to RH TWC clamp.





11. Separate the LH and RH TWCs.

NOTE: It may be necessary to heat the LH/RH TWC joint to ease removal.
