Contact Pattern Location

In general, desirable ring gear tooth patterns should have the following characteristics:
- The drive pattern on the drive side ring gear must be fairly well centered on the tooth.
- The coast pattern on the coast side ring gear must be fairly well centered on the tooth.
- Some clearance between the pattern and the top of the tooth is desirable.
- There must be no hard lines where the pressure is high.
