Steering Column

Removal and Installation

All vehicles
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute to allow for the depletion of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) backup power supply.

2. WARNING To avoid the risk of serious personal injury, follow all warnings, cautions, notes and instructions in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) deactivation procedure.

Deactivate the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).

3. WARNING: To avoid the risk of serious personal injury, follow all warnings, cautions, notes and instructions in the clockspring removal and installation procedure.

Remove the clockspring.





4. Remove the screws and the instrument panel steering column cover.





5. Remove the screws and the steering column cover reinforcement.





6. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.





7. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the push pin from the column.





8. Disconnect the PATS transceiver electrical connector.





Vehicles with column shift
9. Detach the shift cable from the column and the bracket.





10. Remove the bolt and disconnect the transmission range indicator cable.
