20% Seat Frame Replacement

1. Remove the 20% seat from the vehicle. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 501-10 for removal instructions.

2. Remove the side shields (four pieces total). Remove the two 7 mm inboard screws on each side. Slide the shields off the pin-type retainers and remove them.

3. Remove the left hinge side shield. Remove 5.5 mm screw that retains the left hinge side shield. Slide it around the elastic strap and remove it.

4. Unfasten the rear closeout (mudflap). Refer to Figure 9. Remove the elastic strap pin-type retainers from each side. Remove the two short j-retainers from the rear crossmember.

5. Remove the safety belt retractor. Secure the seat belt at the guide cover to prevent it from retracting into the seat back when the bolt is removed. Remove the size 60 Torx safety belt anchor bolt.

6. Remove the safety belt buckle. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 501-20A for removal instructions. Discard the safety belt buckle nut.

7. Remove the black plastic closeout piece from the seat back. Refer to Figure 10. Remove and discard the two (2) pin-type retainers from the black plastic closeout piece on the seat back. Remove the closeout piece.

8. Unfasten the three (3) clear j-retainers that secure the bottom of the seat backrest cover. See Figure 11.

9. Open the seat to the unfolded position.

10. Unsnap the recliner pull strap handle, and ease the seat backrest cover up several inches to access the two (2) 15 mm backrest attachment bolts on the seat belt retractor side. Remove the upper bolt, and loosen, but do not remove, the lower bolt.

11. Fold the seat together, and place it upside down with the tracks facing up on a clean workbench surface.

12. Remove the loosened lower backrest attachment bolt. Discard both upper and lower bolts.

13. Remove the 15 mm seat backrest pivot bolt on the other side of the seat and discard.

NOTE
BE SURE TO REMOVE THE WHITE PIVOT BOLT BUSHING FROM THE SEAT FRAME AFTER THE BOLT IS REMOVED. NEW BOLT WILL COME WITH A NEW BUSHING.

14. Unfasten the long clear j-retainer that retains the front of the seat cushion cover and clips over the forward crossmember. Refer to Figure 12.

15. Using hand on the seat track to stabilize the seat and prevent movement, remove the two (2) 13 mm riser-to-cushion bolts on either side of the forward crossmember and discard. Refer to Figure 12.

16. Remove the frame.

17. Carefully (so as to avoid damage and allow for reuse) transfer the five plastic push pins that retain the side shields from the old frame to the new service frame.
