Transmission









1. Apply a thin coat small of grease on the input shaft splines.
2. Secure the transaxle to the transmission jack with a safety strap. Raise and position the transmission to the engine.

3. NOTE: Before securing the engine to the transmission, connect the hydraulic tube to the clutch slave cylinder.

Connect the clutch hydraulic tube.
4. Install the 9 transmission-to-engine bolts.
^ Tighten to 60 Nm (44 lb-ft).
5. Install the transmission mount to the transmission.
^ Tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
6. Install the crossmember and the 2 transmission mount nuts.
^ Tighten to 98 Nm (72 lb-ft).





7. Install the 4 crossmember nuts.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).





8. NOTE: Make sure the exhaust system is correctly aligned.

Install the 2 exhaust heat shield bolts.
^ Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).





9. Install the exhaust hanger bracket and the 2 exhaust hanger bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).





10. Remove the transmission jack.
11. Connect the fuel tubes and the wire harness to the rear of the transmission. Install the 2 nuts.





12. Install the front stabilizer brackets and the 4 front stabilizer brackets nuts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
13. Connect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector.





14. Connect the reverse lamp switch electrical connector.





15. Connect both of the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connectors. Connect the wire harness to the transmission.





16. Install the starter motor and the 2 starter motor bolts.
^ Tighten to 33 Nm (24 lb-ft).
17. Connect the VSS electrical connector and the reverse lamp switch electrical connector. Then clip the wiring harness to the transmission.
18. Align the index marks made during removal and install the driveshaft.
19. Fill the transmission with the specified fluid.
20. Install the lower gearshift lever and the 4 lower gearshift lever bolts.
^ Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
21. Install the lower boot and the 4 screws.
22. Install the gearshift lever and the gearshift lever nut.
^ Tighten to 33 Nm (24 lb-ft).





23. Slide the boot downward and clip the console cover into place.
24. Connect the battery ground cable.
