Spun Cab Retainer Cage Nut - 6.4L Diesel






Front End Sheet Metal (FESM)

NOTE: Left Hand (LH) side shown, Right Hand (RH) side similar.

1. Remove the headlamp assembly.

2. Position a floor jack under the FESM and lift slightly to apply pressure to the FESM cage nut.





3. NOTICE: Do not apply heat to the body bolt from the underside of the vehicle or damage to the body insulator may occur.

NOTE: The purpose for heating is to only loosen the threadlock and sealer on the bolt.

Using the Mini-Ductor (IDIMD-600) or equivalent, apply heat to the FESM cage nut for 15 seconds.





4. NOTE: Body bolt installation is addressed in the cab-off procedure. For additional information, refer to Body - 6.4L Diesel Body - 6.4L Diesel.
Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the FESM bolt with an impact tool.

5. Install the headlamp assembly.

6. Return to Body - 6.4L Diesel Body - 6.4L Diesel.


Body Mount #1

NOTE: Left Hand (LH) side shown, Right Hand (RH) side similar.

1. Remove the front door scuff plate.





2. Position aside the front door weatherstrip.





3. Remove the cowl side trim panel.





4. Position aside the carpeting.

5. Remove the floor plug.





6. NOTICE: Do not apply heat to the body bolt from the underside of the vehicle or damage to the body insulator may occur.

NOTE: The purpose for heating is to only loosen the threadlock and sealer on the bolt.

Using the Mini-Ductor (IDIMD-600) or equivalent, apply heat to the cage nut for 15 seconds.





7. NOTE: Body bolt installation is addressed in the cab-off procedure. For additional information, refer to Body - 6.4L Diesel Body - 6.4L Diesel.

Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the body mount bolt with an impact tool.

8. Install the floor plug.





9. Install the carpet.

10. Install the cowl side trim panel.





11. Install the front door weatherstrip.

12. Install the front door scuff plate.





13. Return to Body - 6.4L Diesel Body - 6.4L Diesel.


Body Mount #2 (Crew Cab Only)

NOTE: Left Hand (LH) side shown, Right Hand (RH) side similar.

1. Remove the rear seat.

2. Position aside the B-pillar trim panel.

3. Position aside the carpet to gain access to the floor plug and remove the plug.





4. NOTICE: Do not apply heat to the body bolt from the underside of the vehicle or damage to the body insulator may occur.

NOTE: The purpose for heating is to only loosen the threadlock and sealer on the bolt.

Using the Mini-Ductor (IDIMD-600) or equivalent, apply heat to the cage nut for 15 seconds.

Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the body mount bolt with an impact tool.

6. Install the floor plug.





7. Install the carpet.

8. Install the rear seat.

9. Install the B-pillar trim panel.

10. Return to Body - 6.4L Diesel Body - 6.4L Diesel.


Body Mount #3

1. Regular and Crew Cab, position the rear seat backrest forward.

2. SuperCab, remove the rear seat backrest.

NOTE: Left Hand (LH) side shown, Right Hand (RH) side similar.

3. NOTICE: Do not apply heat to the body bolt from the underside of the vehicle or damage to the body insulator may occur.

NOTE: The purpose for heating is to only loosen the threadlock and sealer on the bolt.

Using the Mini-Ductor (IDIMD-600) or equivalent, apply heat to the cage nut for 15 seconds.

5. SuperCab, install the rear seat backrest.

6. Return to Body - 6.4L Diesel Body - 6.4L Diesel.
