Seic Shut-Down With Vehicle Body Motion
SEIC Shut-Down with Vehicle Body MotionModels Affected: 2008 Model Year F250/350/450/550, 6.4L Diesel Engine Only.
Applications Affected: Any using SEIC, such as FEAD or transmission-driven PTO, and Battery Charge Protection.
Background
New for 2008 model year is the method in which the antilock brake system delivers vehicle road speed signal to the vehicle's powertrain controls. Using CAN messaging, this signal is so responsive that even light vehicle body motion, such as opening a door or stepping on the bumper, can generate a vehicle road speed signal. Vehicle road speed signal is one ot the normal disablers tor SEIC.
Solution
Customers may have their Ford dealer apply Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) number 07-16-02 to reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM). The vehicle must have the TorqShitt automatic transmission, and the customer must require SEIC tor his job application to tunction.
New vehicles with a build date trom KTP ot 7-30-07 or later have the necessary PCM reprogramming and will not need Ford dealer intervention tor this concern.
