Removal

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor.






Four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles

3. NOTE: Prior to removing the speed sensor, make sure that the area around the sensor is free of foreign material to prevent contamination of the transmission.

Remove the OSS sensor.
1 Remove the bolt.
2 Remove the OSS sensor.






Rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles

4. NOTE: Prior to removing the speed sensor, make sure that the area around the sensor is free of foreign material to prevent contamination of the transmission.

Remove the OSS sensor.
1 Remove the bolt.
2 Remove the OSS sensor.






Installation

4WD vehicles

1. Install the OSS sensor.
1 Lubricate the O-ring with clean automatic transmission fluid and install the OSS sensor.
2 Install the bolt.
^ Tighten to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).






RWD vehicles

2. Install the OSS sensor.
1 Lubricate the O-ring with clean automatic transmission fluid and install the OSS sensor.
2 Install the bolt.
^ Tighten to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).






All vehicles

3. Connect the OSS sensor electrical connector.
