This Modification Is Authorized Only For The Listed Engines. Per Forming This Modification On Other Engine Calibrations Is Unauthorized And Could Create Liability Under Applicable Federal Or Local Laws.
If one of the subject vehicles/engine calibrations with an E2TE-9510-CKA carburetor experiences hesitations, stumbles, and/or stalls, the carburetor may be modified per the following instructions to help alleviate the concern:
1. Remove the carburetor from the engine. Refer to Section 24-25-13 of the Light Truck Engine Shop Manual.
2. Remove the air horn assembly by disconnecting the choke linkage and removing the (6) attaching screws.
3. Remove the booster assembly by removing the booster holddown screw.

4. With a # 65 drill, hand drill the pump discharge nozzle "shooters" to .035" diameter (Figure 34).
5. Clean booster assembly of any chips and reassemble to the carburetor.
6. Reinstall the air horn to the carburetor and connect the choke linkage.
7. Reset the choke pulldown to .140 (hard gage) - follow the procedure in the Carburetor Adjustment Booklet 1981/1982, Page 47, or Section 4-140 & 141 of the Engine/Emission Diagnosis Shop Manual.
8. Install a new choke cap assembly (E2TZ-9848-D) following the procedure in Section 24. Refer to engine decal for adjustment specification.
9. Install a new A/C throttle solenoid positioner and bracket D9SZ-9S520-A and D7TZ-9J586-A.
10. Reinstall the carburetor on the engine. Be sure all vacuum and fuel lines are correctly installed. Check for leaks.
11. Reset the curb and fast idle speeds to the setting on the engine decal.
12. Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number, alterations performed and the change authority (TSB number and article) as shown. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
