Assemble

1. Reverse disassembly procedure to assemble.
2. The transmission mainshaft bearing rollers, extension housing bushing. reverse idler bearing rollers and countershaft gear bearing rollers must be lubricated with ESW-M1C109-A or equivalent at each location. The low gear and 2nd and overdrive gear journals are to be lubricated with ESPM2C83-G transmission oil or equivalent. All other internal components of the transmission are to be lubricated with ESP-M2C83-C transmission oil or equivalent.
3. The intermediate and high rail welch plug must be seated firmly and must not protrude above the front face of case, nor must it be recessed more than 0.06 inch below front face of case.
4. The end play of the 1st, 2nd and overdrive gears after their assembly on the output shaft must be checked using a suitable gauge and must meet the following specifications:
a. With 1st gear thrust washer clamped against the shoulder on the output shaft. the 1st gear end play should be 0.005-0.024 inch.
b. 2nd gear end play should be 0.003-0.021 inch.
c. Overdrive gear end play should be 0.009-0.023 inch.
d. Countershaft gear end play after its assembly into case between thrust washers must be 0.004-0.018 inch.

NOTE: If dimensions are not within specifications, replace components as necessary.

5. When gearshift selector arm plate is firmly seated in the first-second shift fork plate slot. the transmission shifter shaft must pass freely through the first-second shift fork shifter shaft bore without indication of binding.
6. Torque specifications for the bolts or parts are as follows:

Detent Bolt 10-15 ft lbs
Extension Housing 42-50 ft lbs
Filler Plug 10-20 ft lbs
Reverse Gear Fork Pivot Pin 15-25 ft lbs
Turret Assembly 8-12 ft lbs
