LIGHT TRUCKS 1983-84 F & E SERIES
If the 6.9L diesel engine glow plugs (12A342) or the glow plug control switch (9A444) are replaced, the "Fast Start Glow Plug System-Basic Diagnostic Test" must be repeated (Section 32-30 of the 1984 Truck Engine/Emissions Diagnosis Manual).
Glow plug or glow plug control switch concerns may be caused by the chassis after-glow relay (9C972), or by chassis wiring. A system functional re-test is necessary to ensure that the serviced system is functioning properly. Failure to complete the "Basic Diagnostic Test" (Section 32-30 of the 1984 Truck Engine/Emissions Diagnosis Manual) may cause a "repeat service" and possible engine damage.
