HESITATION AND STALL (2.8L) - CARBURETOR ICING
LIGHT TRUCKS 1983-1/2-84 RANGER, BRONCO II
If hesitation or stalling occurs in high humidity with cold ambient (30~ to 40~F) it may be caused by carburetor icing. The following air cleaner modification will correct this condition.
1. Replace the air cleaner shroud and the tube assembly with a new assembly E5TZ-9A603-B.
2. Replace the duct and valve assembly with a new assembly E5TZ-9A626-A.
3. Replace the duct and valve assembly to air cleaner gasket, E1SZ-9E691-A if damaged.
This action will raise the carburetor inlet air temperatures eliminating the carburetor icing conditions.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
