Ignition System Identification

NOTE: This vehicle was available with either the Duraspark II or TFI ignition system depending upon calibration. Use the following to identify the ignition system.

DS II:

DURASPARK II IGNITION SYSTEM
The DS II system can be distinguished by:
- Vacuum advance unit mounted on the distributor.
- Large ignition module mounted separately from the distributor
- Standard cylindrical type ignition coil.

TFI:

THICK FILM IGNITION (TFI) IGNITION SYSTEM
The TFI system can be distinguished by:
- Ignition module mounted on the side of the distributor.
- E-core ignition coil (appears square).
- Used in conjunction with EEC IV computer system.
