FORD: 1984-85 TEMPO, MUSTANG, LTD, THUNDERBIRD, CROWN VICTORIA

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1984-85 TOPAZ, CAPRI, MARQUIS, COUGAR, GRAND MARQUIS, MARK VII, CONTINENTAL, LINCOLN TOWN CAR

LIGHT TRUCK: 1984-85 RANGER, BRONCO II, E SERIES, F SERIES, BRONCO

ISSUE: Pinpoint tests DD16, DL13, DD17, and DM16 for diagnosing the EGR valve position sensor (EVP) are incorrect as outlined in the 1984 and 1985 Engine/Emission Diagnosis Shop Manuals, Volume H.

ACTION: If service is required, use the diagnostic procedures on pages 48 through 51 of this TSB.

NOTE: When measuring resistance from EVP Signal Pin (not Signal Return) to EVP Sensor (VREF Pin), gradually apply pressure to EVP sensor shaft. The action to take should also cover a NO CHANGE in resistance as well as a smooth change from 100 ohms to 5500 ohms.
