The engineering part number has been deleted from step 3 and the operation number has been changed in TSB 84-20-7. A defect code has been added. The article is being reprinted showing the correct numbers, When heated and vacuum is applied, the 5/32" vacuum tubing for the thermactor air bypass and thermactor air diverter solenoids (TAB/TAD) can collapse causing intermittent or constant loss of vacuum signal to or from the solenoids. This causes the electronic engine control to generate the above mentioned condition and could generate erroneous service codes.
1. Inspect TAB/TAD solenoid vacuum tubing.
2. If tubing is suspect, discard and replace with 5/32" tubing of the equivalent length. (Use 5/32" bulk tubing.)
3. Insure vacuum tubing connections are secure and tubing is routed in a manner to prevent any potential obstructions.
