Engine Block Heater - Coolant Leaks

An engine coolant leak may be caused by an improperly torqued attaching bolt for the engine immersion heater (engine block heater). If the immersion heater is leaking, the procedure listed below should be used.

The immersion heater is located in the front face of the driver's side cylinder head. With the cable connector in the inboard or "2 o'clock" position (heating element will be in the "8 o'clock" position) (Figure 25) torque the heater element attaching bolt to 10-14 ft.lbs. (13.6- 18.9 N-m).
