LIGHT TRUCK: 1986 RANGER, BRONCO II

WARNING: This modification is authorized only for the listed engines. Performing this modification on other engine calibrations is unauthorized and could create liability under applicable federal or local laws.

ISSUE: An engine misfire and/or buck/jerk while under road load and/or during tipin acceleration at speeds of 65 mph (105 km/h) may be caused by the strategy of the EEC IV processor. The strategy fault may cause the number two (2) injector bank (right side) to operate incorrectly. Self-test code "11" will be displayed during diagnosis indicating the system is okay.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new level EEC IV processor. Refer to the EEC IV processor application chart that follows for the current service part application.

Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
