GLASS - DOOR - FLUTTERS OR SLAPS WHEN WINDOW IS PARTIALLY OPEN
LIGHT TRUCK: 1986-88 RANGER, BRONCO II
ISSUE: Door glass flutter or slap when the window is 3 or 4 inches from the full up position may be caused by a glass adjustment mechanism that does not adequately support the glass. The affected vehicles are units with manual windows and units with power windows that do not have vent windows.
ACTION: Install a new door glass retainer assembly to support the door glass. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. Raise the front window to the full up position.
2. Remove the door trim panel and watershield. Refer to the appropriate model year Ranger/Bronco II Shop Manual for service details.

5. Position the glass run retainer assembly and loosely install two (2) screws through the drilled holes in the door inner panel. Let the glass run retainer assembly hang freely. Do not tighten the screws.
6. Carefully lower the window slowly until the bottom front edge of the window engages the glass run retainer assembly. Then, lower the window completely to position the glass run retainer assembly.
7. Tighten the two (2) glass run retainer assembly retaining screws.
