SUBJECT: Emissions Recall 91E05 - Emissions Control Systems Modifications on Certain 1985 and 1986-Model E and F-Series and Bronco Trucks
AFFECTED VEHICLES 1985 and 1986-Model E and F-Series and Bronco trucks sold in high altitude locations and equipped with 4.9L engines having one of the following calibrations:

5-52E-R00 5-52K-R00
5-52Y-R00
REASONS FOR RECALL The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Ford have conducted in-use vehicle tests on some of the affected trucks and have determined that they may be releasing levels of exhaust emissions which exceed Federal high altitude standards.
SERVICE ACTION Trucks returned for service will have carburetor choke baffle plates, distributor octane rods and spark plugs replaced, modification of the thermactor air control system vacuum activating system and attachment of Service Information and Authorized Modifications decals.
