^ NOISE - POWERTRAIN/AIR CONDITIONING "MOAN" - 7.5L WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSON


LIGHT TRUCK: 1984-87 F 250/350

ISSUE: A powertrain/air conditioning "moan" noise may occur at about 1400 RPM because of a combined engine, transmission, and A/C bracket vibrating condition.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new design A/C bracket, support brace, and transmission damper assembly using the following service procedure.

Figure 7:

1. Remove and throw away old A/C bracket (-2882-) and spacer (-6AO59-), Figure 7.

2. Install new bracket (E6TZ-2882-E), support brace (E6TZ-2888-A), and shorter spacer (E7TZ- 6AO59-A), Figure 7.

3. Torque all bolts to specification.

4. Install transmission damper assembly (E4TZ- 4A263-A) to transmission extension with the weight toward the rear of the vehicle, Figure 2. Torque nuts and bolts to 18-30 ft.lbs. (24-41 N-m).
