Compressor



6P148 SIX CYLINDER COMPRESSOR, V8 ENGINES
1. Discharge refrigerant from system.
2. Disconnect compressor clutch wires from field coil connector on compressor.
3. Disconnect discharge and suction hoses from compressor manifolds.
4. Cap refrigerant lines and compressor manifolds to prevent contamination.
5. Remove two screws securing brace to rear mounting bracket.
6. Remove two screws securing bracket to compressor lower front mounting lugs.
7. Remove screw securing bracket to compressor upper mounting lug.

8. Remove compressor/clutch assembly and rear support as a unit, Fig. 38.
9. Remove attaching screws, then separate rear support from compressor.
10. Reverse procedure to install.

Manual A/C System
1. Discharge refrigerant from system.
2. Discharge compressor clutch wires from field coil connector on compressor.
3. Disconnect the discharge and suction hoses from compressor manifolds. Cap refrigerant lines and compressor manifolds to prevent contamination.
4. Remove the two screws from rear support bracket.
5. Remove three screws attaching compressor tab and front legs to front support, Fig. 37.
6. Remove one screw from front of tubular brace, then tubular brace from vehicle.
7. Rotate the compressor towards left side of engine compartment until compressor upper boss clears support.
8. Remove compressor assembly and rear support from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install.

Electronic Automatic Temperature Control System
1. Discharge refrigerant from system.
2. Discharge compressor clutch wires from field coil connector on compressor.
3. Disconnect discharge and suction hoses from compressor manifolds. Cap refrigerant lines and compressor manifolds to prevent contamination.
4. Remove three bolts securing front of compressor to power steering pump support and compressor brace.
5. Remove two bolts securing rear compressor brace to power steering pump support.
6. Remove compressor and rear brace, Fig. 41, as an assembly from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
