Fig. 6 Multi-function switch replacement:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models equipped with tilt steering column, move column to lowest position and remove tilt lever attaching screw and the lever.
3. On all models, remove ignition lock as outlined elsewhere in this section.
4. Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds.
5. Remove wiring harness retainer, then the three multi-function switch wiring connectors, Fig. 6.
6. Remove multi-function switch attaching screws, then disengage switch from casting and remove.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque multi-function attaching screws to 18---27 ft. lbs.
b. Torque tilt lever attaching screw (if equipped) to 6---8.5 inch lbs.
