^ ENGINE TIMING - 7.3L DIESEL - REVISED DYNAMIC TIMING SPECIFICATION


LIGHT TRUCK: 1988 E-250/350, F-250/350

ISSUE: The 7.3L diesel engine dynamic injection pump timing specification as published in the 1988 Engine/Emission Diagnosis Manual and the 7.3L Diesel Engine Diagnostic Guide (FPS-8512) has been revised. The new timing specification will reduce hard starting and long engine cranking time.

ACTION: If service is required, use the following revised dynamic timing specification. This information should be inserted in your 1988 Engine/Emission Diagnosis Shop Manual, Section 21-8, and the 7.3L Diesel Engine Diagnostic Guide (FPS-8512).

REVISED SPECIFICATION

1. Set to 8 degrees +/- 2 degrees BTDC at 2000 RPM. The adjustment must be made at NO LOAD with housing pressure cold advance (HPCA) disconnected.

NOTE: The new specification applies to all fuel injection pumps for the entire 1988 model year.
