Liftgate

1. Remove liftgate inner trim panel.
2. On station wagon models, remove license plate housing retaining screws and housing after disconnecting electrical connector to license plate lamp.
3. Pull wiper motor harness connector from retaining hole and separate connector.
4. Place ignition switch in on position and check for battery voltage at red wire terminal on harness side of connector.
5. If no voltage is present, check circuit continuity, circuit breaker and fuse, and check wiper switch continuity on all models except Escort and Lynx.
6. With ignition on, place wiper switch in on position and check for battery voltage at white wire terminal on harness side of connector.
7. If no voltage is present, check continuity of run and feed circuits and wiper switch, and repair as needed.
