Pick-Up Coil: Service and Repair



Removal
1. Remove distributor cap and rotor, then disconnect distributor wiring harness plug.
2. Using a small gear puller or two screwdrivers, pry armature from sleeve and plate assembly. Use caution to avoid loss of roll pin.
3. Remove screws retaining lower plate and stator assemblies to distributor base. There are two different screws.
4. Remove lower plate and stator assemblies from distributor.
5. Remove E-clip, flat washer and wave washer securing stator assembly to lower plate assembly and separate the two.

Installation
1. Place stator assembly on lower plate assembly and install wave washer, flat washer and E-clip.
2. Install stator and lower plate assembly on distributor base. Ensure pin on stator assembly engages diaphragm rod hole.
3. Install two retaining screws in their proper positions and Torque to 15 inch lbs.
4. Observe that there are two locating notches in armature and install on sleeve and plate assembly with unused notch and new roll pin.
5. Install distributor rotor and cap and Torque screws to 18-23 inch lbs., then connect distributor electrical connector to engine wiring harness.
6. Check initial timing.
