A/T - A4LD Valve Body Design Change

SUBJECT: 1988 FORD A4LD VALVE BODY




The 1988 Ford A4LD valve body was changed to accept a 3-4 shift solenoid at the 4-3 torque demand valve "line-up" (fig 1).

The 4-3 torque demand control valve sleeve was modified to accept this solenoid.

When this solenoid was added, the previous retainer, spring, 4-3 torque demand control valve, plug and keeper were eliminated from this line up (fig. 1).




The 3-4 throttle pressure modulator valve and spring were also eliminated (Fig. 2).




The number 6 shuttle ball was eliminated from the valve body (Fig. 3).

The 1988 Ford A4LD can be identified by 3 wires going into the case connector.
