TRANSAXLE - AXOD - OIL PUMP AND MAIN CONTROL ASSEMBLY SERVICE TIP

FORD: 1986-90 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1986-90 SABLE 1988-90 CONTINENTAL


ISSUE: Recent design changes made to the oil pump body have eliminated the need for the line pressure blow-off valve and spring feature. The production and service oil pump body castings will continue to have the bore where the line pressure blow-off valve, spring and clip were contained.

ACTION: If service is required, use the AXOD assemblies as received.

CAUTION: OIL PUMP BODIES PREVIOUSLY BUILT WITH THIS VALVE AND SPRING HAVE A HOLE DRILLED THROUGH TO RELEASE FLUID. REMOVING THESE COMPONENTS WILL CAUSE EXTENSIVE TRANSAXLE INTERNAL LEAKAGE.
