ISSUE: Repeat repairs are sometimes caused by missing or improperly installed (inverted) thrust washers and needle bearings. Installation Sequence and Assembly Charts have been developed to help with proper installation of these parts.

ACTION: Install thrust washers and needle bearings as required. Refer to the appropriate model year Taurus/Sable or Continental Shop Manual, Section 17-15for service details. Use the following Installation Sequence and Assembly Charts to help with proper assembly of the parts.

NOTE: THE CHART INFORMATION IS NUMERICALLY REVERSED TO ASSUME THE SEQUENCE OF INSTALLATION FOR THE TOTAL TRANSAXLE REBUILD.
