^ HEATER - BLOWER MOTOR INOPERATIVE

^ HEATER - BLOWER SWITCH - OVERHEATS AND BECOMES INOPERATIVE


LIGHT TRUCK: 1988-89 ECONOLINE


ISSUE: The heater blower motor may become inoperative. This can occur if the main heater blower motor switch overheats and becomes inoperative.

ACTION: Install a new heater blower motor switch. Refer to the following procedure for service details.


1. Remove the blower motor switch. Refer to the 1988/89 Econoline Shop Manual, Section 36-23, for removal procedure.

2. Cut the wires leading to the damaged heater blower switch connector and discard the connector.

3. If the heater switch blower switch is damaged, replace it with a new switch (D5AZ-19986-A).

4. Splice together the wires cut in Step # 2 with the appropriate pigtail wires on the jumper harness (F1UZ-18C629-A); a connector and 4 terminals with pigtails).

5. Attach the new connector to the switch.

6. Install the blower switch. Refer to the 1988/89 Econoline Shop Manual, Section 36-23, for service details.


CAUTION: TO ENSURE PROPER CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SWITCH TERMINALS AND THE CONNECTOR, MAKE SURE THAT THE CONNECTOR IS FULLY ENGAGED AND IN THE LOCKED POSITION. DO NOT USE A FILLER MATERIAL TO TIGHTEN THE CONNECTION BECAUSE THESE MATERIALS MAY CAUSE FURTHER OVERHEATING CONCERNS WITH THIS CONNECTION.
