SUBJECT: Emissions Recall 9OE93 - Vacuum Line Damage on Certain 1989 - Model E-Series Trucks

AFFECTED VEHICLES 1989-Model E150/250 trucks (Under 8500 # GVW) equipped
with 5.8L engines. The trucks were manufactured at the Lorain Assembly Plant from the start of 1989-model production through March 1, 1989.

REASONS FOR RECALL Vacuum lines for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)
and thermactor emissions systems may be damaged by contact with the EGR valve and-tube assembly. The nylon vacuum lines may either develop a leak or fuse shut from the contact with the hot EGR valve and tube assembly.

SERVICE ACTION Trucks returned for service will be inspected for
vacuum line damage and, if necessary, the lines will be repaired. All lines will be repositioned and retained with a tie strap.
