Auxiliary Marker Lamps
^ Builders that require additional marker lamps on F-Series with dual rear wheels or with the trailer tow option are provided an auxiliary marker lamp relay. This relay is controlled by the headlamp switch in both the park light and headlamp positions. A four-way connector labled "to aux marker lamps" will be found on the lefthand plastic fender apron. It contains a black 14 ga. ground wire and a white/red 14 ga. power wire. This connector should be used for the power and ground to control your added marker lamps.
F-Series with single rear wheels and Econolines do not include this convenience, except when equipped with trailer tow option. Whenever additional marker lamps are added, they must be wired through a relay, feeding the relay coil from the headlamp switch. This will protect the headlamp switch from excessive amperage draw, The running lamp circuit of the headlamp switch can handle a maximum of 9 amps. Loads above 9 amps can cause the switch to overheat and burn out.
