LIGHT TRUCK: 1988-89 ECONOLINE

ISSUE: A "creaking" or "squeaking" noise that appears to be coming from the left hand side of the instrument panel may be caused by the windshield spacer rubbing on the bottom edge of the windshield glass. The noise is most noticeable when the vehicle is turned left or right or driven on rough roads.


ACTION: Remove the windshield spacer from the lower left hand corner of the windshield. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

FIGURE 1:





1. Remove the left hand windshield belt moulding, Figure 1.

2. Remove and throw away the spacer from the lower left hand corner of the windshield.

NOTE: THE WINDSHIELD SPACER'S ONLY PURPOSE IS TO POSITION THE WINDSHIELD DURING INITIAL INSTALLATION.

3. Reinstall the left hand windshield belt moulding.
