Heater Core: Service and Repair

Fig. 19 Heater core removal:

1. Drain coolant from system and plug hoses.
2. Working in engine compartment, remove heater hoses from heater core, Fig. 19.
3. Remove two screws retaining modesty panel to underside of instrument panel, and remove panel.
4. Remove four screws from heater core cover located on the LH side of case underneath instrument panel, and remove cover.
5. Remove screw and retaining bracket at the bottom of heater core.
6. Remove heater core and seal assembly from case.
7. Reverse procedure to install.




Auxiliary Heater Core
1. Remove first bench seat, if equipped.
2. Remove auxiliary heater and/or A/C cover attaching screws and the cover.
3. Remove heater core retaining strap, then disconnect and plug hoses from heater core.
4. Disconnect electrical connector from heater core seal.
5. Slide heater core and seal assembly out of housing slot.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
