Performing Key On, Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test:
1. Connect STAR Tester.NOTE: IF STAR TESTER IS UNAVAILABLE, REFER TO ENGINE/EMISSIONS DIAGNOSTIC SHOP MANUAL SECTION 14 FOR ALTERNATE METHODS OF RUNNING SELF-TEST.
2. Turn key to ON position.
3. Activate Self-Test - Press center button on STAR tester (grounding the self-test input STI)
NOTE: FOR DIESEL APPLICATIONS - BEFORE ACTIVATING SELF-TEST, THE THROTTLE MUST BE DEPRESSED TO WIDE OPEN AND HELD THERE FOR THE ENTIRE KEY ON, ENGINE OFF TEST.
4. The processor assembly will run self-test and then output the hard fault codes (or Code 11 - pass test). The hard fault codes are repeated to make it easier to verify the sequence. After the hard fault codes have been repeated (or Code 11 repeated) a single pulse occurs to signal that the next set of codes will be from the continuous test (or Code 11 - pass).
CAUTION: THE CONTINUOUS TEST CODES WILL BE ERASED FROM MEMORY IF THE STI IS UNGROUNDED BY DISCONNECTING THE SMALL SELF-TEST CONNECTOR OR UNLATCHING THE STAR TESTER.
5. Output cycling test mode:
After all of the codes have been received, the test enters the output cycling mode. This means that actuator outputs will turn ON and OFF each time the throttle is depressed and then returned to closed position.
NOTE: DIESEL APPLICATIONS ALSO HAVE A "FIPL TEST" MODE THAT MAY BE ENTERED BY
ACTIVATING THE OVERDRIVE CANCEL SWITCH. THIS TEST IS TO CHECK AND ADJUST THE FIPL SENSOR BY MONITORING THE SELF-TEST OUTPUT (SLOW BEEPS, SETTING IS LOW; FAST BEEPS, SETTING IS HIGH; STEADY TONE, SETTING IS CORRECT). FOR MORE INFORMATION SEE ENGINE/EMISSIONS DIAGNOSTIC SHOP MANUAL.
