This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to include F-Super Duty and F-Super Duty Stripped F53 Chassis units.

ISSUE: Power steering fluid may leak around the threads of the valve nut surrounding the input shaft, see Figure 1, because of a lack of sealant or improperly applied sealant.

ACTION: If service is required, use minor seal service kit (E8HZ-3L548-C) along with Bendix Kit # 107762 to correct this leakage.

It includes primer and sealant which must be used to treat the valve nut prior to replacement in the valve housing. There is enough material in the kit to seal two gears.

The Minor Seal Maintenance Kit (E8HZ-3L548-C) includes instructions for resealing the power steering gear. Refer to the 1988-89 Medium/Heavy Truck Shop Manual, Volume D, Section 13-48 for service details.

NOTE: A SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL, D89T-12458-R, SPANNER WRENCH (BENDIX # 106234) IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE/INSTALL THE VALVE NUT.
