Auxiliary Transmission Coolers

The "E40D Auxiliary Cooler Application Chart" shows the correct usage of transmission auxiliary coolers with E40D transmissions. These are the only applications released for production with auxiliary coolers. Ford factory installed cooling systems are designed and tested to provide sufficient transmission cooling when used within the prescribed vehicle limits. If additional cooling is desired, use only the coolers designated in the chart, installed in series between the intank cooler outlet and the transmission inlet (rear) fitting.

Use of other brands of aftermarket auxiliary transmission coolers may restrict the flow of transmission fluid into the rear lubrication circuit resulting in overheating and internal damage to the transmission due to lack of adequate lubrication.
