ISSUE: The engine may continue to run after the ignition has been switched to the OFF position. This occurs if a fuse is mistakenly installed in fuse panel position # 12 which is supposed to be left vacant.
ACTION: Apply RTV into the # 12 position of the fuse panel to prevent fuse installation. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. Locate the fuse panel which is usually located inside the passenger compartment near the steering column on the dash panel. This location may vary, depending on possible relocation by the independent body builder.
2. Locate fuse position # 12 as shown in Figure 1.
3. If a fuse is installed, remove and throw it away.
4. Apply silicone RTV sealer to both terminals in the fuse # 12 cavity.
NOTE: APPLY ENOUGH RTV SO THAT WHEN HARDENED, A FUSE CANNOT BE INSERTED. A NOTICEABLE BUMP SHOULD BE LEFT OVER EACH TERMINAL.
5. Inspect the # 12 fuse slot after the silicone RTV sealer has hardened for:
^ Adherence to the panel to make sure the sealer bump will not come off or work loose
^ Completeness of application to make sure a fuse cannot be inserted.
6. Check the fuse panel against the Owner's Guide or Figure 1 to be sure that all proper type and size fuses are in the correct positions.
